The past couple of days have been so nice. I love the rain. It makes for great sleeping weather and it cools everything off. I think we finally had a day that was below 90 degrees for the first time in two months! Of course, it’s expected to go back up later this week, but I’ll take the relief while I can. I hope all those who own them put their hot tub covers on because it came down hard yesterday. The pond behind my apartment is finally back up to it’s normal level for the first time all summer. I’m so glad fall is around the corner. I sure miss the cooler weather.

I’m glad I don’t have plastic knobs in my apartment. They would have melted by now. I miss the spring (or fall) so much. Neither lasts here for more than a couple of weeks. I want to open my windows and feel the fresh air.

Yesterday it stormed all day. There were tornadoes all over the place. Ten people in Mississippi dies. Several counties in Alabama lost power. Today it is beautiful and sunny. So much so that I wish I had a yard to work in again. I’m sort of bored of being trapped inside with nothing to do but watch TV and play games or maybe even clean house. But I digress. My point is that Alabama weather is so unpredictable. Awful one day and beautiful the next. You can almost never rely on the weather man. At least we haven’t hit high summer yet. We have highs in the 70′s this week. It won’t be long before the highs are in the 100′s. While I prefer heat over cold, the extreme is still unbearable. More than once I’ve had my rear-view mirror fall from my windshield because it was so hot the sun melted the glue. Guess I had better get my car checked out before it gets too hot. Last thing I need is an overheating engine.

I just read an article on a bill proposing that text messaging be banned in Alabama. This bill passed the House back in February, but seems to be stalled in the Senate. If you’re interested you can read the article here.

Now, if you want my opinion (well even if you don’t here it is anyway) here it is. I am against petty bills where the government tells us what we can or cannot do. Here in Alabama I refer to it as the Moral Police. I am against laws like the seat belt law, the text messaging law, or any law that tells you what you can or cannot not do in the privacy of your own home. And yes, I am even for the legalization of marijuana, but that’s a rant for another day.

Ok, with all of that said, I also believe that people should take more responsibility for their own actions. I am sick to death of people trying to blame other people for their problems. Pissed off because you lost your licence due to a DUI? Well, you shouldn’t have been drinking and driving, idiot. Mad at your parents because they took your phone away? Do better in school, kiddo. Every action is met with an equal and opposite reaction. This isn’t just true in physics, folks. Every decision you make can and will effect the rest of your life.

So, the next time you feel the need to text while driving, don’t stop because it’s againt the law, stop it because it’s the responsible thing to do.

Just when you think the weather is going to be nice and stable for a while it changes all over again. There is a saying around here that if you don’t like the weather in Alabama just wait a day. Last week it was beautiful and warm. Over the weekend it turned cool again and people are having to drag out their coats again. I was silly enough to leave my coat at work over the weekend so leaving for work this morning was NOT fun (not that it is any day of the week, but you know what I mean.) March and April are both really unpredictable months around here. You’ll run the AC during the day and the heat at night. It’s really irritating. How is the weather in your part of the world?

One of my biggest problems with this is how hot my car gets this time of year. The heat in the car makes it smell! EW! It’s not as bad as maybe pantry moth traps but it’s not good. Ah, the joys of living in the south.
