According to the UTI test they gave me at the doctor’s office, I do not have an UTI. But according to ME I do. So I discussed my situation with my new doctor. I told him about how I have these about twice a year or so and that my last doctor even gave me refills on my antibiotics for it. Needless to say, he gave me the script.

Now I know that taking too many antibiotics can make you more resistant to them, but I am a lost cause. I have been fighting UTI infections for 20 years and as a small child I fought ear infections. (FYI, if I had my druthers, I’d take the ear infections!) In fact back in 2003 when I had my sinus problems I went through about 7-8 rounds of antibiotics before the doctor decided to do surgery. We even tried just-released-to-the-market drugs. Nothing helped.

I am a lost cause when it comes to antibiotics. *shrug* It could be worse. I could have mesothelioma or something equally as scary.

I went home for the rest of the day and did some work from there. I got to feeling really poopy though. Probably because all I did was lay around. When I did finally get up and move I felt worse. After dinner I felt better, I suppose the meds were making me feel icky. This morning I made sure to take them with food and I feel fine.

Thanks for all your well wishes!

I’d like to share my UTI history with you…

As far back into my childhood as I can remember I suffered from numerous UTIs every year. My mom wasn’t the type to take me to a doctor for much, so I had to fight them off on my own. Once I was an adult, however, you bet I went to my doctor for antibiotics!

Anyway, about 10 years ago I went to my doctor for what I KNEW was a UTI and was also told that I didn’t have one…OK, I’d only had a lifetime of experience with them, so what was this…? Quite a mystery!

Shortly after the ‘UTI that wasn’t’ I began drinking A LOT of water…I mean like 100 ounces a day,and I am happy to say that I haven’t had another UTI since then. I guess all that water flushes out the toxins…I don’t really know why, but it worked for me!

I just wanted to comment on your post because I don’t think anyone who hasn’t had a UTI can possibly understand the excruciating pain… Hopefully this provides some hope that maybe they won’t plague you forever.

    I wish you well!

Glad you’re feeling a little better today. Do they have any idea WHY you get the infections so easily and often? I had brandi at the doctor for one like 6 months ago, and they said because she gets them frequently (about 2X a year) that the next one would warrant a trip to a specialist. Something about her, excuse the terminology here, pee shoot being too narrow, and they could fix it with surgery. Thank goodness she hasn’t had one since, but maybe a specialist could help you.

Gina, thank you so much for charing! My doctor did suggest that I drink more fluids to keep things flushed. I appreciate the confirmation!

they have never tried to find out. I always thought of it as being a fact of life. Next time I will ask!
